The Value of Wellbeing

Since day one, I have put my heart into transforming business presentations because I understand the power a truly influential presentation can have. Now,  that same passion is shared by 25 talented presentation experts in our Sydney office.

Over the years we have worked really hard to share our thinking and expertise, but rarely had time to focus on our own wellbeing and development. It’s always been one of those things I plan to do when we are a bit quieter. But, after nearly 10 years it has dawned on me, things aren’t slowing down and there is no room for excuses. The time is now.

Wellbeing in the workplace

Our recent office move was the catalyst for change.  I invested in our space, ripping down walls to flood our workspace with natural light & ambiance. I put in collaboration areas, quiet zones, stand up desks and table tennis for fast thinking meetings.

My style is to practice what I preach. Many of my team are ex-agency and for years have endured the long hours and stress that comes from those roles. So, it is very important for me to me to create a healthy, happy workplace. I then want to demonstrate to other businesses simple changes benefit everyone, including the bottom line. Health options for us include;

Healthy minds

It is all very well to have a beautiful and practical office, and great to have healthy eating options with an understanding boss. But, as anyone living in the 21st century knows, stress and anxiety are all around us. Suffering anxiety myself I am acutely aware of the impact it has on your mind and those around you.

At any given time, 1 in 5 employees are likely to be experiencing a mental health condition. https://www.headsup.org.au one of the things we can all do is to raise awareness of mental health conditions and reduce stigma by talking opening and looking out for those in need. www.beyondblue.org.au/workplace-mental-healthawareness

Balanced, happy lives

For me it’s personal and our team is embarking on a new journey of discovery, allowing time to be more creative, grounded, healthier and happier people.

My goal is to grow and nurture our culture, to build a vibrant workplace where we continuously grow and share.  It’s a journey, but I see the results already. The electricity I feel when I walk in the office provides such energy. I look forward to sharing more from our journey, in the hope that if small business can make these changes – all businesses can.
